Let me tell you something. I always look forward to the weekend from Tuesdays because work can be draining, and my weekends go like the wind. I know it’s not just me and even during the weekends. I still find myself doing a bit of work so this week I was looking forward to the weekend as usual, except this time around I have decided to prioritize myself and general wellbeing. I am not going to fill my schedule with tasks. Instead, I intend to enjoy because I cannot come and kill myself.
I believe weekends are the perfect opportunity to recharge, reset, and So, I’ve come up with a few simple tips that help me make the most of my weekends, leaving me feeling rested and fulfilled.
Plan Ahead
So normally I rush into the weekend without having any plan and in like a split second it is Monday, this time what we are going to do is to map out what you’d like to do. It doesn’t have to be strict, but knowing your options will help you avoid the last-minute scramble, leaving more room for relaxation and fun.
Get Quality Sleep
If you’re feeling wiped out, listen to your body. That means you seriously need to sleep a little longer. There’s nothing like waking up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle whatever the weekend throws your way! Go to bed early, allow yourself to sleep in, or even take a nap if needed.
Disconnect from Work
It can be tempting to check emails or respond to work messages, but resist the urge. Turn off notifications and fully disconnect from work. Your weekend should be about you. Trust me, your Monday self will thank you for taking that break and you’ll return to work on Monday with a clear head and renewed energy.
Try a New Recipe
Weekends are perfect for stepping out of your routine and trying something new. Whether it’s a different restaurant or a recipe you’ve been eyeing, why not try cooking that recipe you’ve been saving? Or maybe check out that new spot everyone’s talking about? Shaking things up adds a touch of excitement to your weekend.
Set Personal Boundaries
It’s okay to say no. Declining activities that drain your energy allows you to focus on what truly matters to you whether it’s rest, if something doesn’t vibe with you or if it’s just going to drain you, just skip it. Your weekend should be all about what you love. If you want to chill out, dive into your hobbies, or just hang out with your favourite people to do what you love then to protect that time and do what makes you happy.
